Protected Time

Protected time is essential at Yakima Valley Farm Workers Clinic because it allows our providers the time needed to complete charting, review labs, coordinate care, and manage patient messages during the workday, rather than after hours. By purposely providing dedicated time for administrative responsibilities, providers can stay current with documentation, maintain high standards of care, and approach each patient visit with clarity and focus. This helps ensure accuracy, reduces rushed work, and strengthens the overall quality of care delivered.

Just as important, protected time is a direct investment in provider well‑being. When clinicians aren’t forced to finish their work late in the evening or on weekends, they experience less burnout and greater harmony between work and home. This gives them greater control over their workload, which helps preserve morale and reinforces that their time and well‑being matter.

We believe providers who feel supported are more present with patients, more collaborative with colleagues, and more satisfied with their roles. By ensuring protected time is part of our providers’ workday, we create an environment where clinicians can thrive, today and for years to come.
