Change Healthcare/Optum Health Cybersecurity Incident and Its Impact to YVFWC Patient Health and Financial Information.

Dear Patient,

Change Healthcare which is part of Optum and owned by UnitedHealth Group, experienced a cybersecurity incident that has impacted its network and operations. Change Healthcare is a healthcare technology provider for payment management and other information exchange solutions. As part of our healthcare billing process, YVFWC utilizes the services of Change Healthcare and has been a partner to our organization for more than five years.

On February 21, 2024, Change Healthcare began experiencing a cyber security issue and isolated its systems to prevent further impact. As of now, Change Healthcare has not provided a timeline for resolution.  Change Healthcare is working directly with law enforcement, cyber security experts, and other regulatory bodies to address the matter and understand the impact to patients and customers.  Once YVFWC became aware of the threat, we immediately took action to disconnect from Change Healthcare and protect our internal systems and patients’ personal health and financial information from any potential threat.

Although YVFWC has experienced operational disruptions, we are working to minimize impacts to patient care services. At this time, there is no indication that this breach has impacted any of the YVFWC systems or that any of our patients’ health or financial information has been compromised.

We are keenly aware of how important your personal health and financial information is to you. YVFWC will remain proactive and aggressive in addressing this cyber-attack with our partner organization, and we will provide updates as more information becomes available.

If you have any questions about the incident, please do not hesitate to contact us by email HIPAAprivacy@yvfwc.org or 509-865-6175 ext. 2405

Respectfully,
