TOPPENISH – Yakima Valley Farm Workers Clinic is pleased to announce Safe Haven Community Center in Toppenish has a new leader at the helm.

Salvador Cobar comes to Safe Haven with a strong passion to lead and develop the youth of Toppenish.

“This is such a great opportunity to help mold the youth of the Lower Valley,” Cobar said.

With 25 years of experience in management, as well as interacting with and leading children in Boy Scouts for more than 10 years and five years as religious educator, Cobar fits right in at Safe Haven.

Originally from New Orleans, Cobar makes his home in the Yakima Valley with his wife of nearly 23 years. Cobar isn’t a new face to Safe Haven Community Center, however, with recent experience working with the children of the Lower Valley through Northwest Community Action Center, a division of Yakima Valley Farm Workers Clinic.

Cobar says he’s eager to see the programs at Safe Haven Community Center grow.

“We have about 20 youth in our after school program right now, I’d love to see participation double,” he added.

Cobar is also excited to help participate in, and watch the Seniors on the Go program grow.

“A program for the senior citizens of the Lower Valley is so needed, I am glad we have this group of seniors and I am passionate about helping the program grow and succeed,” he said.
