Clinical Supervisor II

Join our team as a Clinical Supervisor II, This role provides supervision and instruction to direct reports and oversees the overall operations of assigned programs and services. In addition, this position may serve as a liaison to providers and community partners and maintain limited direct patient care.

This full-time position is split between our Toppenish, WA and Grandview, WA locations.

What You’ll Do:

• Supervises, coaches, mentors, and trains direct report staff. Provides continuous performance management and conducts employee performance evaluations in consultation with Human Resources. Addresses performance and/or behavior issues, clarifying expectations and providing feedback.

• Supports staff growth and development. Assesses the educational and experience needs of all levels of staff in collaboration with the individual. Encourages staff to seek educational opportunities incorporating job related training in addition to mandatory training.

• Reviews and monitors staff’s clinical records and productivity, and reviews counseling skills through chart review, direct observation, video, customer satisfaction surveys, and supervisory sessions.

• Participates in the recruitment and selection of staff. Provides orientation to outline job requirements and expectations, policies and procedures, and proper use of tools and equipment.

• Serves as a liaison to numerous community agencies and organizations, including higher learning institutions, school districts, hospitals, law enforcement, Division of Children and Family Services (DCFS) staff, and tribal authorities.

• Collaborates with Clinical or Program Director to coordinate contracts with community agencies and mental health specialist services with outside providers.

• Maintains current knowledge of Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM), developmental issues, therapeutic modalities, and community resources.

• Maintains limited direct patient care as needed including therapy, supportive therapeutic counseling, and education to assigned individuals.

• Additional Duties may be assigned depending on programs supervised:

• Assess training needs of BHS and CHS departments that meet academic and licensure requirements for identified students and staff.

• Develop training materials, teaching outlines, and methods for delivery for clinical staff and student interns as needed.

• Tracks the status of training programs and workforce resources. Presents and reports status to internal and external committees and audiences as requested.

• Occasional urgent coverage for other clinical supervisors or direct care staff, including consultations or calls with crisis workers or clients.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Master’s Degree in Social Work. Master’s Degree in Mental Health, Counseling, Addiction, or related field may be accepted depending on programs supervised.

• 2 years of direct service experience working in a behavioral health field, this includes 2 years of supervisory experience in any related setting. OR, 4 years direct service experience working in a behavioral health field in lieu of supervisory experience.

• Required to meet Washington State requirements for a Mental Health Professional designation.

• One of the following Washington State licenses required:

  • Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC).

  • Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW).

  • Licensed Advanced Social Worker (LASW).

  • Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT).

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 45 days of hire

• Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred. Must demonstrate the ability to communicate at level 10 on the language proficiency scale to receive bilingual differential pay. Knowledge of the most current DSM and multi-axial evaluation required. Knowledge of Revised Codes of Washington (RCWs) and Washington Administrative Codes (WACs) as related to the provision of services; Knowledge of Oregon Administrative Rules (OARs) as related to the provision of services. Position Highlights:

What You’ll Do:

• Establishes and maintains rapport and trust with individuals to encourage participation and retention in the wraparound process.

• Completes the Integrated Biopsychosocial Assessment and completes intake sessions with clients and formulates a mental health diagnosis by Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders V (DSM V) standards.

• Develops an initial treatment plan and required safety assessment, incorporating standard practice guidelines for each diagnosis.

• Provides consultation, evaluation and direct mental health services which are defined by the child and family team. The clinician’s activities are individualized within each child and family team process. Use of evidence-based practices should be used when available.

• Participates as an active member of the Child and Family Team, by attending CFT meetings to develop cross-system planning and collaborate with youth and family, as well as other system partners and professionals, and natural supports of the family.

• Provides risk assessments, safety planning, assists with hospitalizations, and educates other team members around symptoms and diagnoses, and use of evidence-based practices.

• Participates in crisis support plan meetings to provide clinical skills and knowledge to WISe staff for better understanding of behaviors and how interventions are selected or created so that they fit a family’s strengths and unmet needs.

• Provides individual, family, and group therapy. Consultation, coordination, oversight, and evaluation are provided as part of the WISe team-based approach, as needed.

• Consults with the child’s psychiatrist and assist in supporting symptom monitoring with the family.

• Reviews and updates the treatment plan with client and CFT members. Measures change and provides information to the child and family team so that adjustments to treatment can be made.

• Maintains a non-judgmental attitude toward families, engaging and working with others from diverse backgrounds, appreciating the various training and life experiences of other staff, and reaching agreement without needing to prevail as the expert as outlined in the WISe Principles.

• Responds to crisis situations and assesses urgency of individual’s needs and obtains appropriate services as needed.

• Assists individual and family in obtaining additional mental health services and other resources as needed. Documents all referrals made to other resources.

• Works with individuals to transition and maintain in a community setting after psychiatric hospitalizations.

• Documents assessments and care provided in client’s Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and completes all documentation as required by funder and outside organizations.

• Travel within service area to meet youth and families in locations that are preferred and/or most appropriate for service delivery. Services provided in home, schools, or community settings.

• Provide 24-hour crisis support to clients enrolled in WISe by phone or responding to the home, hospital or community setting. Participates in crisis response on-call rotation, including after-hours coverage.

• Presents mental health findings in verbal or written format to appropriate professionals. Provides case presentations for peer review.

• Works individually and as part of a team.

• Meets all productivity and service-specific requirements.

• Completes billing process based on funder requirements.

• Performs clinical responsibilities in alignment with The Joint Commission (TJC), Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), and YVFWC requirements.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Master’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling or related field preferred.

• Experience in the direct treatment of persons with mental illness or emotional disturbance preferred.

• Experience in the treatment of children.
